Keshia Knight Pulliam Pays Tribute to Malcolm-Jamal Warne…

Keshia Knight Pulliam is mourning the loss of Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Pulliam—who played Warner’s little sister on The Cosby Show—took to Instagram on Sunday to post a tribute to Warner, alongside a clip of him playing a guitar solo at the City Winery in Atlanta. The video then cuts to footage of her daughter and his daughter walking with a horse on a farm.

“A week ago I lost my big brother but I gained an angel,” she wrote. “I love you… I miss you… We got our girls.”

In a post to her IG Story, she thanked everyone for reaching out. “Thank you for every text, call, and all of the love that you have sent my way,” she wrote. “I’ve just needed a moment.”

On July 20, the 54-year-old died in an accidental drowning in Costa Rica while on vacation with his family. He was swimming with his daughter and a friend when he and the friend were swept away by a strong rip current and pulled under water. At the time of his fatal drowning, his daughter was already “out of the water.”

A rep for Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency said that the friend “managed to get out” and that Warner was pulled from the water by “several people on the beach.” He was given 45 minutes of CPR but couldn’t be resuscitated, ultimately dying of asphyxia. It has also been revealed that there was no lifeguard on duty at the time of the incident.

The beach where Warner drowned is called Playa Grande and has proven to be difficult for swimmers, with posted signs warning people of the risk of drowning.

Pulliam played Rudy Huxtable on The Cosby Show, beginning the show at age five, while Warner played her older brother, Theodore Huxtable, at 13 years old. The show ran for eight seasons, from 1984 to 1992.
