Cameron Boyce’s Mother Reacts to Tribute in ‘Happy Gilmor…

Adam Sandler honored his friend and former co-star Cameron Boyce in a very subtle, yet touching way.
In a small part in Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler’s namesake character visits a golf course. As he approaches a check-in booth, two people are seen watching TV. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the individuals appear to be watching Jessie, on which, Boyce starred as Luke Ross.
This Easter egg brought joy into the hearts of many fans, as well as the Disney Channel alum’s mother, Libby Boyce. On Sunday, July 27, Libby took to Instagram to express her joy and gratitude over the subtle nod to her son.
“Adam and Cameron talked quite a bit in the days leading up to his death,” Libby wrote in the post’s caption. “Cameron was supposed to be in Hubies Halloween and they were strategizing. They had a bond I think related to being authentic, funny and just keeping it real. Adam always finds a way to keep Cams memory alive which warms our heart.”
Cameron sadly died at 20 years old in 2019 “in his sleep due to a seizure, which was a result of an ongoing medical condition,” said a spokesperson at the time. Before his untimely death, Cameron played the son of Sandler’s character in Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2.
Around the time of Cameron’s death, Sandler paid tribute to him via Instagram, writing: “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us.”
In the 2020 Netfllix original Hubies Halloween, Sandler included a tribute to Cameron in the end credits, as he was slated to appear in the movie alongside Sandler.
Happy Gilmore 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
