Kevin Gates’ Wife Dreka Files for Divorce Following Britt…
Kevin Gates‘ wife Dreka looks like she’s done with her marriage to the rapper after filing for divorce this week.
According to TMZ, Dreka, who has been married to Kevin since 2015, filed the papers on Wednesday (July 30) citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
In addition to seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two children — Islah (12) and Khaza (11) — Dreka has asked for spousal support, while checking the box to terminate the court’s ability to award the Baton Rouge rapper spousal support. Whether the couple have a prenup is not yet known.
News of the pair’s divorce comes a few months after it was reported that influencer Brittany Renner and Gates had divorced after just 52 days of marriage.
“We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,” Renner told REAL 92.3 LA, adding that she had no regrets and expressed peace with how things turned out. “I don’t feel like it’s a sucky situation because what is meant to be is always going to be.”
She continued: “I followed my heart, and that’s what more than most people can say, and I think when you do that, you get all the clarity you need, and there’s no stone left unturned, and there’s no regret […] A lot of people, their issue is, even just in dating, in marriage, it’s people just don’t give it their all. They don’t just go for it. But I feel like when you do, you’re at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent.”
While it’s unclear whether Gates and Renner’s marriage was official and conducted lawfully, especially since he has been married to Dreka Gates for nine years, Renner first referred to Gates as her husband when speaking about converting to Islam (something Gates did in 2016) in May and how it has improved her life.
“Islam has made my life better in every single category,” she said. “And like my husband says, the closer you get to God, the more you get. Literally in every category of my life. I mean, dreams happen.”
As far as Dreka Gates goes, the rapper’s former manager and now ex-wife set the record straight in May on her past relationship with him and the cheating rumors that came along with it.
It was alleged that Dreka had been cheating on Gates with her female personal trainer. After someone on social media asked her why she allegedly stepped out on the Baton Rouge rapper, she immediately shut the rumor down.
“I HAVE to address this because it’s really gone a little too far and I don’t care for social media to continue to spread this misinformation,” she wrote. “I have NEVER had any type of sexual or romantic encounters with my personal trainer or any ‘hired help’ and will NEVER. And just to make it CLEAR, sorry ladies but I am strictly [eggplant emoji] and I do not do plastic. I need the real thang! Please and thank you.”
