Gilbert Arenas Clip Mocking Malik Beasley Gambling Probe …

Gilbert Arenas found himself in a bit of hot water earlier this week due to a gambling investigation, and now an old clip of him joking about another NBA player in a similar predicament is doing the rounds.

On the July 2 episode of Gil’s Arena, Arenas reacted to a joke about Malik Beasley‘s NBA gambling investigation, incorrectly stating that Terry Rozier was free. “Scary Terry’s free. Feds found him innocent,” he said.

Even though the NBA cleared Rozier in its own betting scandal probe, the Miami Heat guard remained under federal investigation, as reported by senior NBA insider Chris Haynes.

After a smattering of applause, Al Harrington jokingly chimed in, “I heard he told on Malik,” causing the entire panel to burst into laughter. Harrington also joked that Rozier asked Beasley to sub in for him.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Beasley was under investigation by the U.S. District Attorney’s Office on suspicion of gambling on NBA games, one day after sharing that the league cleared Rozier.

“But I know somebody who did,” Arenas commented, laughing.

Arenas, along with five others, were arrested for allegedly running an illegal gambling business from a Los Angeles rental home, which he owns. Among those charged was 49-year-old Yevgeni Gershman, who is suspected of being a member of an Israeli organized crime group.

“From September 2021 to July 2022, Gershman, Arenas, and the other defendants operated an illegal gambling business,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Central District of California said in a press release. “Arenas rented out an Encino mansion he owned for the purpose of hosting high-stakes illegal poker games. At Arenas’ direction, Arthur Kats, 51, of West Hollywood, staged the mansion to host the games, found co-conspirators to host the games, and collected rent from the co-conspirators on Arenas’ behalf.”

Nick Young, who was sitting next to Arenas in the above video, weighed in on Arenas’ arrest, calling him a “stupid motherfucker.” Young also proposed changing the name of the show to Swaggy’s Arena.

Arenas posted a video of himself in a celebratory mood on Instagram after being released on bond. “Can’t hold me, baby,” he tells the camera. “They can’t hold me.”

The caption shed some light on his alleged involvement in the alleged illegal gambling business. “This aint got shyt to do with me ‘ just rented the house,'” the caption reads. “Wasnt apart of the Festivities.”

Arenas also teased in the caption that he will be snitching soon. Just like he jokingly suggested Rozier did, less than a month ago.
