Tyler, the Creator Says He Has ‘No Interest’ in Being Dru…

Tyler, the Creator has doubled down on saying that in his 34 years of life, he has never been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The West Coast rapper addressed his lifelong sobriety during his Tuesday (July 29) appearance on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning. Around the 18:25-minute mark of the video above, Tyler told the hosts he lived a “wild life,” which prompted some pushback.

“Do you really live a wild life?” Ebro asked.

“Yes and Yes. My actual regular life is probably much different than a regular person,” Tyler explained. “Not saying it’s better or anything … I have a crazy schedule. I live a wild life, based on that.”

Ebro pointed out that Tyler has been vocal about abstaining from drugs and alcohol and asked if he’s still sober.

“No smoke. I’ve never been drunk in my life. Nothing,” Tyler said before he was offered an alcoholic drink. “I have no interest in it. Maybe, like, 10 years, me and wifey on the boat, I’m like, ‘F*ck it, let’s do that. And then we’ll try Molly.’ [It’s] just not for me now.”

The Don’t Tap the Glass artist said if and when he decides to drink alcohol, “It’ll definitely be wine.”

“That seems sick. At some point, though,” he added.

Tyler clarified he has no issues with others partaking in drugs and alcohol, nor has he ever felt pressured to get high or drunk. He said he tends to stay away from the party scene as he preferred kickbacks with his friend.

“I don’t go out. I’m not even around that. I just don’t wanna go to parties,” he explained. “That’s not my speed. I would rather … We’ll go to the house and invite girls and the homies; we will play Uno and bake cookies and watch fucking ATL or Cat in the Hat or something. That’s what we do.”

Tyler clarified that his crew isn’t completely sober, as some of his friends smoke and drink in moderation.

“I don’t have no alcoholics or druggies around me. That’s not the company that I keep,” he continued. “Again, if you’re on that time, that’s you. I’m not saying that I’m better than anybody, but my circle—and I’ve had the same circle for damn near 20 years—we not on that type of time.”
