Cops Discover 100 Cans of Nitrous Oxide Outside Grateful …

Those hoping to take in a Grateful Dead concert with an extra buzz had their plans interrupted after a massive police seizure outside the show.

KRON in San Francisco reports cops came across a truck outside Golden Gate Park containing approximately 100 nitrous oxide tanks and balloons “prepared for suspected drug use.”

The report states officers were on patrol outside the venue around 11 p.m. on August 2 when they came across the trailer. When officers approached the trailer, a man was reportedly inside, and upon further investigation they found the nitrous oxide tanks.

KRON reports 32-year-old Thomas Siderio was then arrested at the truck. The report says Siderio was then booked for the distribution or dispensing of nitrous oxide and possession of nitrous oxide with the intent to ingest for intoxication. He was taken to the San Francisco County Jail.

A statement from the SFPD about the incident said, “Our officers will continue to patrol all areas of Golden Gate Park and the surrounding neighborhoods. SFPD is dedicated to keeping everyone safe and will continue to ensure concert goers have a safe time while in our city.”

Dead & Company were in town for a celebration from August 1 through August 3 at Golden Gate Park to play at Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary concert series.

Another report from KRON said the event was supposed to provide a boost to the local economy through hotel bookings and other support brought in by the thousands expected to make the trip to the show.

In a press conference leading up to the concert series, SF Mayor Daniel Lurie said, “When we make space for creativity and celebration, the whole city benefits. He continued, ”Small businesses right here on Haight have already seen a noticeable increase in foot traffic and sales as fans come to the historic neighborhood.”
