In seeing that her oldest children were possibly “upset” with her, Jessica Alba scheduled therapy for them.

The actress was a guest on the August 12 episode of podcast Aspire with Emma Grede, where she discussed how her children have been “grounding” for her. With her estranged husband, film producer Cash Warren, Alba has three children, daughters Honor and Haven, 13, and son Hayes, 7. Alba added that she began taking her daughters to therapy when they were ten years old. “I would take the girls one-on-one and I would say to the therapist like, ‘This is meant for them to be able to tell me how I can be a better mom to them, because I know they’re upset about some things that I do.'”

Alba wanted her daughters to know that they wouldn’t “get in trouble” for being upfront with her and could “express themselves in a real way.”

“I think as you’re finding your voice as a young woman to be able to have your mom say like validate you and validate your feelings,” she said. “I just felt like maybe that could be something that can be kind of life-changing for them.”

In a 2024 interview with Real Simple, Alba shared that her therapy sessions with Honor began when the now-teenager
