Raekwon Thanks Busta Rhymes for ‘Saving My Life’ In Power…

Raekwon gave props to Busta Rhymes during an impassioned speech about New York City.
In a video posted by Art of Dialogue on Sunday (August 10), the rappers were shown on a night out at an NYC club, where Raekwon the Chef took the microphone to commend Busta. Earlier this month, the “Touch It” rapper accepted his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Thank you for saving my life. “You saved my life, n***a, you was in it first,” the Wu-Tang Clan member told an emotional Busta.
After calling their hometown “number one,” Raekwon went on to express how “proud” he was of his longtime friend.
“Busta, I wanna thank you for everything. For the privilege to be here with you and share these moments, my n***a,” he continued. “We’re grown men. We’re grown men, we do grown things. I’m so proud of you, man. … You deserve it, you live it. New York City, Hall of Fame.”
Raekwon ended the emotional speech by calling himself a “student of the game” and dapping his “Goldmine” collaborator.
Rae and Busta have a long history. Busta, whose group Leaders of the New School debuted several years before the Wu’s first album dropped, is a mega-fan of Rae’s 1995 solo debut Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…, and co-executive produced its 2009 sequel.
While Raekwon was absent from Busta’s Walk of Fame acceptance, those attending the August 1 ceremony were fellow New York natives LL Cool J, Chuck D, Chris Rock, and Big Daddy Kane.
“I worked so hard and I never asked for a shortcut, I never asked for a cheat code,” Busta said during his speech.
