Benny the Butcher, Freddie Gibbs Meet at Airport, Westsid…

A surprise airport encounter between Benny the Butcher and Freddie Gibbs has reignited talk of their long-running feud and sparked a dramatic ultimatum from Westside Gunn.

Video of the confrontation, captured by Westside’s son, shows the two rappers reportedly in close conversation in a busy terminal in Paris. Benny can be heard saying, “Make sure you say that on the record too then, you heard” and Gunn, a fellow Griselda member, saying, “I still think y’all should talk though.” It’s unclear when exactly the video was recorded.

Benny replied that he knows a conversation should happen, but claimed Gibbs is “scared” with Gunn saying it’s either a full-fledged feud or the former friends squashing it. Gunn later narrated the scene in the video to his son, noting the moment’s rare significance.

“You see Freddie talking to Benny, Benny talking to Freddie,” Gunn said in the clip. “I told [Benny] this is neutral, this is the only time we’re probably gonna get this because any other time it would be furniture moving. It’s either all-out war or nothing.”

The nature of the conversation between Benny and Gibbs is unclear from the footage, though the Griselda rapper’s comments point to it being volatile. Both artists have a history of public jabs and escalating tensions over the past few years, with social media exchanges and alleged disses on wax fueling the rift.

Gunn’s remarks suggest he can see the two being able to talk as a potential turning point, a last chance to either reconcile or formally accept open conflict. Neither Benny nor Gibbs has publicly commented on the airport encounter.

The feud between Benny and Gibbs kicked off in 2021 when the latter made fun of the Buffalo native getting shot in the leg during a robbery attempt. Things got more heated when Benny was photographed with Gibbs’s ex-girlfriend Destini Fox. Benny claimed he’s friends with Fox and returned a chain he borrowed from her.

Last year, Benny explained he has no intention of burying the hatchet with Gibbs during an interview with The Breakfast Club. According to Benny, he would look “goofy” if there were a reconciliation.

“You don’t do that shit to people you cool with, and that’s just it,” he said. “I really don’t have no problem with him. He never done nothing to me in life. I have no problem with him. It’s just that I would be goofy.”

Fans believe Gibbs had some bars reserved for Benny on the Alfredo 2 track “Empanadas” where he rapped: “Bitches in Buffalo get the same thing, they was throwin’ plates / Limped away on his good foot, but he ain’t bust a grape / These niggas fake, sealed documents, still poppin’ it / Fuck the certified crack babies, come get your mama hit/ (Yeah) Shit ain’t sellin’, they gotta resort to drama shit.”
