The adidas Handball Spezial “Equipment Red” is the latest installment of the brand’s “Made in Germany” line, a collection of handcrafted silhouettes featuring classic terrace styling. The Spezial has long been the torchbearer of 1970s indoor handball designs and has become one of the most adopted iterations in European casual culture.
Drawing many of the same design elements from previous popular editions like the “Preloved Ink”, the new “Equipment Red” keeps the red suede uppers, cream Three Stripes and gum white sole, but with the added layer of a more luxurious suede treatment. The better suede mix likely accounts for the increased retailing, but should in turn help with longevity both in wear and keeping with current sneaker inflation.
The adidas Handball Spezial “Equipment Red” will release August 19th in Europe for $200. The global release date is set for late August to early September on adidas.com and in-store at select retailers worldwide.
