Six ‘Severed Heads’ Found in Roadside Horror

A motorist in a normally peaceful area of Mexico encountered a horror show along the side of the road.

Six severed heads, belonging to unidentified men, were propped up along a road “between the Mexican states of Puebla and Tlaxcala” on August 19, People reported.

The motive was not immediately clear, according to People, but local news reports make it clear that a war between criminal organizations led to the gory display.

A banner declaring as much was found alongside the heads. The banner was signed “La Barredora,” meaning “the sweeper,” according to BBC, which noted that the heads were found in an area of Mexico that is not normally associated with cartel violence. That’s the name of “a little-known criminal group operating in the western state of Guerrero,” BBC reported.

The area is known for fuel smuggling along with narcotics issues, according to BBC, which noted that Mexico’s president has vowed to crack down on drug traffickers.

La Jornada, a Spanish-language site, provided additional details of the grisly discovery.

According to La Jornada, the “six human heads were found, in an apparent state of decomposition,” near the town of San Gabriel Popocatla, before a gas station.

A motorist first made the discovery, calling 911 to report that “when passing through the place, he observed in the distance what appears to be a human head, on the side of the road.”

Police sources said the note mentioned people accused of extortion and homicide in the region, according to La Jornada.

The heads were found in the grassy area alongside the roadway, the site reported.

According to BBC, other grisly discoveries have occurred in Mexico recently, including 20 bodies in the cartel-dominated state of Sinaloa, with four of those beheaded.
