EDM Duo ‘Done’ With Festival After ‘F*cked U…

Burning Man is currently underway in Black Rock City, Nevada, and while several outlets have been reporting on the various issues this year’s event has faced, nothing beats the accounts shared by Marc and Allister Blackham, better known as EC Twins.
The EDM duo, who live in LA but are originally from the UK, were recruited to DJ at this year’s event. It was their first time at Burning Man, but through a series of vlog updates, the pair have shared that the experience hasn’t been quite what they expected.
After a series of issues, including being turned away from the gates of Burning Man and told to come back the following day, problems with the bizarre locals in the town and hotel they had to retreat to, and then the 12-hour line they had to wait in to finally get into the grounds, the duo finally made it to the festival after a few days.
However, just when they thought their Burning Man experience was about to get better, things continued to go left.
On Thursday (August 28), EC Twins took to their IG Stories to update fans that they would be playing on the Golden Gate Art Car at 7 pm for sunset, although they were actually supposed to play there earlier in the day.
“We already told you we were playing there, but we didn’t make it this morning,” they explained, before adding the reason for their absence was because “everybody gets fucked up here” and so scheduling apparently “doesn’t work.”
They then shared that their DJ set the night before was pushed forward an hour because “the power went out.” But not only that, in a hilarious turn of events, they “played for a Russian who came and picked [them] up to drive [them] to [their] gig, and took liquid cocaine.”
Explaining that the alleged “Russian gangsta” drove them across the playa — which apparently you’re not allowed to do in a car — they were pulled over by the cops, but instead of being handed a citation, their new Russian friend did some “Jedi mind trick” and they were allowed to pass. They shared a video of the police interaction on their IG Stories.
Relieved to have finally played, the twins said they did have “some horror stories” from their evening set but would share them in a full vlog later on. Instead, they were more concerned with sharing the news that they would be playing Golden Gate Art Car — which, as it turned out, also didn’t go according to plan.
“So guys, it’s Friday and I’m all out of Burning Man good will,” Allister told the duo’s followers on Friday (August 29) in another vlog update, with Marc adding: “Yeah, stick a fork in it, I think we’re done.”
Recounting what can only be described as one hell of a comedy script, which could be adapted into a movie comparable to Human Traffic or Kevin & Perry Go Large, EC Twins said that their Golden Gate Art Car experience was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
“We’re going to leave you with a funny story,” Marc began, before Allister chimed in and said he didn’t find anything funny anymore.
“We were originally booked to play the Art Car at 1pm, but the owner was so fucked up on ketamine, he forgot. So he said, come back at 7pm, sunset set. Perfect.”
Before the gig, the pair went to check out Carl Cox’s set and were in their “element” enjoying the sounds of one of the industry’s most revered DJs. “We were loving it,” they explained, sharing that Cox’s team made them feel “very welcome.” However, with their own set time looming, they had to leave early to make it to the Art Car.
“We get to the Art Car, we’re about to plug in our USBs, and this girl just steps in front of us, bangs a bongo and plugs in a USB, puts on a set of headphones,” they recalled, while mimicking the woman’s alleged drug-infused howls. “We thought, ‘Uh-oh. Oh shit. What is she about?”
Continuing the story, they explained they thought the woman in question might have been the opening act — but apparently not.
“She’s crawling about underneath the decks, and I’m like, ‘Damn, this DJ’s fucked up under the decks,” Marc said, before Allister explained that it was then that he clocked she was allegedly just a random woman “tweaking out on drugs.”
Marc continued: “So the music’s insufferably bad … people are yawning. She’s going, ‘Ow!’ every minute, and she’s starting to be fucking traumatic … So I’m like, ‘We desperately need to get her off.’ People are starting to get off the bus. I’m like, ‘Dude, we need to get on fast. Can somebody ask when we’re going on?'”
It’s at that point that a friend of the EC Twins asked when the pair would start DJing, and almost immediately the bus pulled up where it started, the music got turned down, and someone told the duo, “That’s it. It’s over.”
Allister was “fucking furious,” asking the organizers, “What do you mean we’re not playing?” and calling them “stupid fucking junkies.” Ending the recap, Marc still thought it was a “funny story” despite his brother adamantly disagreeing.
The pair then shared proof in the form of a couple of IG Story videos featuring the actual woman, captioning the first one: “Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce ‘DJ K-Hole,” and “Forgot to thank her for ruining our sunset set & being the straw that broke the camel’s back!!”
The second video, showing the woman banging on some bongos, the twins wrote: “DJ K-Hole everyone! Not only a terrible DJ, but also a really crap drummer #DoubleThreat.”
