Princess Diana’s Brother Posts Death Anniversary Photo of…

The public does not have access to Princess Diana’s grave. Although she was one of the most photographed women in the world, with every word and movement scrutinized, her burial site is tucked away on a private island at the family’s Althorp estate, largely shielded from view.

Now, her brother, Earl Spencer, has included a photo of the island in a death anniversary tribute to his sister.

The photo collage, posted on Instagram on August 31, showed a bouquet of flowers along with an emotional caption.

“Flowers we cut this morning from Althorp’s gardens for the Island,” Charles wrote. “Always an impossible day.”

August 31 is the 28th anniversary of Diana’s death. The princess, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, and his driver Henri Paul died in a car crash in Paris in 1997. Paul lost control of the car in a tunnel in Paris while paparazzi were pursuing the vehicle. The crash has been the subject of an inquest that explored allegations of alcohol use by Paul.

An extensive police investigative report called Operation Paget explored accusations by Fayed’s father that Diana was murdered. That investigation pinned the crash’s cause on intoxication, speed, and the failure to wear seatbelts.

People filled Spencer’s Instagram comment thread with well-wishes and tributes to Princess Diana.

“Diana will never be forgotten. She really was the people’s princess. I cannot imagine how hard this day is for you & her beloved boys,” wrote one woman.

“Diana was such a beautiful soul, who deserved so much better from the world ,” wrote another.

Spencer has shared other glimpses of the lake on the family’s Althorp estate before.

In June, he posted a photo of Diana’s memorial temple, writing, “Beautifully repainted this week – the memorial temple at Althorp. Wonderful to see it looking so fine for the summer.”

Spencer delivered a blistering eulogy at Diana’s funeral, expressing anger at her treatment in the Royal Family.

The estate and island are located in West Northamptonshire, England.
