Will Smith Seemingly Trolls People Who Called Him Out Abo…

Will Smith appeared to respond to criticism for his alleged use of AI for crowd shots in a tour recap.

On Friday (August 29), the rapper uploaded a video to his Instagram account showing himself performing on stage, backed by a line of dancers in dark suits.

Suddenly the camera pans over to a crowd of AI-generated cats cheering him on. Some of the cats’ features appear blurry and distorted, blending human and feline characteristics.

“Crowd was poppin’ tonite!!” Smith captioned the clip.

The controversy stems from suspicions that Smith posted footage from his tour using AI-generated images of fans in a tour montage from his Based on a True Story Tour.

Reddit users claimed that the AI manipulation was particularly noticeable in close-up shots, pointing out distorted faces beneath a “From West Philly…” sign held up by a fan. Other users pointed to supposed irregularities with people holding a sign that read, “‘You Can Make It’ helped me survive cancer. THX Will.”

“This AI slop is so embarrassing LMAO pause the video and you can see the inconsistent finger lengths and that the cell phones warp in the palm of the hands,” wrote one commenter on Instagram.

Other users on Reddit suggested that image upscaling may have contributed to the odd look of the crowd clips.

Green Day seemingly poked fun at Smith for the alleged AI use with a video from their South American tour showing fans along the barricade singing along to their 1994 hit “Basket Case.”

“Don’t need AI for our crowds ,” read the caption.
