How Zay Flowers’ Breakout Season Made Him a Must-Watch NF…

The NFL is built on stars who can change a game in an instant, and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has already proven he belongs in that category.

In just two seasons, the former first-round pick has gone from intriguing rookie to one of the league’s most dynamic offensive weapons.

Flowers was selected 22nd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he quickly validated the Ravens’ investment. He caught nine passes for 78 yards in his debut, setting the tone for what was to come.

By 2024, he had his first 1,000-yard campaign with 74 receptions for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns — including a stretch where he topped 100 yards in four out of five games. As the Ravens continue to build around Lamar Jackson, Flowers has become a central piece of their attack.

In a conversation with sports journalist Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Flowers explained that his offseason has been all about preparation. “Mannn… Getting healthy and getting ready for the season and trying to win a Super Bowl and bring it back to B-More!” he said.

Growing up as the 11th of 14 children in Fort Lauderdale, Flowers learned early how to compete. “I would say my earliest recollections was Stanley McClover and he played for the [Carolina] Panthers,” Flowers told Robinson. “He ran this thing called Big Brothers Little Brothers and I was a part of it for 4 years with this lady named Miss Sharon and she ran me around everywhere… So I’m used to being a part of events like this so that’s why I always come back and give back and do something whenever I can.”

That same mentality shapes his approach on the field, where coaches have praised his separation skills and yards-after-catch ability.

Now, Flowers has his eyes on Baltimore’s opener against the Buffalo Bills. “It’ll be exciting,” he said with a grin. “I didn’t get a chance to play ‘em in the playoffs so now… I get to see ‘em!”
