Musiq Soulchild Surprises Fan’s Bride With “Dontchange” W…

Musiq Soulchild continues to bring joy to people through his music, this time serenading a pair of newlyweds on their big day with his 2002 classic “Dontchange” — you can watch the performance below.
A TikTok posted on Tuesday (September 2) shows the groom kicking the song off for his bride as she descends down the staircase. Before reaching the chorus, the groom surprises guests by passing the mic to Musiq, who continues the song in full while also walking down the staircase.
“Imagine you are excited because your husband is serenading you down the aisle only to find out he hired @Musiq Soulchild to sing the original!” the clip’s caption reads.
While the couple were gleeful at Musiq’s guest appearance on their special day, the comments section was divided, mainly at his casual attire. “Now Musiq you couldn’t dress for the occasion??” one TikToker user wrote, while another joked: “He doesn’t own a suit .”
But Musiq continued the show well into the reception to perform “Halfcrazy.” Also hitting the stage were Jizzal Man and Pimpin’ of Dem Franchize Boyz, performing the group’s biggest hit, “Lean Wit’ It, Rock Wit’ It.”
Musiq’s been in a celebratory mood all summer, having honored the 25th anniversary of his debut album Aijuswanaseing at Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. The singer’s last album was a collaborative project with Hit-Boy, titled Victims & Villains.
Musiq isn’t the only artist who has gone out of their way to help happy couples surprise their wedding guests. Back in 2022, Petey Pablo made a couple’s wedding day even more special by performing a live rendition of his hit song “Raise Up.”
As the bride and groom entered the room, Pablo, decked out in brown suit and black turtleneck, could be seen hyping up the crowd before spitting the memorable hook to his Timbaland-produced anthem.
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
