Danny Trejo Debunks Death Hoax After Viral Rumor Sparks P…
Danny Trejo is alive and well, despite a false social media post that had fans believing the Hollywood icon had passed away.
Over the weekend, a memorial-style post dedicated to Trejo’s life began circulating on Instagram before it snowballed across platforms. The situation escalated when fellow actor John Leguizamo, who once shared the screen with Trejo in The Infiltrator, reposted the claim and led many to think the report was legitimate.
The news spread so quickly that Trejo himself stepped in to calm worried fans. “Thank you all for your concern, but I am very much alive. Someone is spreading fake news,” he said.
Trejo’s representatives also confirmed there was no truth to the rumor, assuring that the Machete star remains in good health. The hoax was especially jarring because Trejo had recently spoken to TMZ about real loss in Hollywood.
He reflected on his late friend and Heat co-star Val Kilmer, pushing back on old stories that painted Kilmer as difficult.
“Val was one of the A-List actors in Hollywood, its top of the line,” said Trejo. “The minute you walked on set, whether you were an A-List player or not, he immediately made you feel like, ‘Hey what’s up!’ He didn’t care whether you came out of Strasberg or [not]…You were there, you’re an actor, that means you’re part of the crew.”
He added, “He immediately made you feel like there was no list. But Val, I can’t say that he was a problem. To directors, he was more of a perfectionist. To the cast, he was just a blast.”
