Reba McEntire Shares How Brandon Blackstock’s Kids Are Co…

It has been over a month now since Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, tragically passed away after a three-year battle with melanoma. He was just 48 years old at the time of his death and left behind several children. Two of the children he shared with Clarkson. Their names are River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9. He was also the father of two other adult children, a 23-year-old daughter, Savannah, and an 18-year-old son, Seth, both of whom were from a previous marriage.
Now, for the first time, Blackstock’s former stepmother and popular singer and actress, Reba McEntire, is sharing an update on how the kids have been doing since their father’s passing.
“The kids are doing well, they’re all bonding together and hanging out with each other, and taking it one day at a time,” McEntire shared with Entertainment Tonight while in attendance at the 2025 Emmys.
However, that doesn’t mean that the loss has not been devastating for everyone involved.
“We miss him. We miss him every minute. We know God’s got this,” she later added
It was not public information that Blackstock was battling melanoma until after his death. However, shortly before his passing, Clarkson did share that her ex-husband was going through health problems and that she needed to take time away from performing to be present for her children.
When Blackstock first passed away, McEntire turned to Instagram to remember him and say her goodbyes.
“There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again,” she wrote.
