Man Found Hanging From Tree in Mississippi Unrelated to B…

Another body was found hanging from a tree in Mississippi.
WJTV reports that on Monday (Sept. 15), Vicksburg police discovered a white male in a wooded area at around 1:30 p.m. He was later identified as 35-year-old Cory Zukatis, originally from Brandon, Mississippi; according to the coroner, Zukatis was unhoused at the time of his death.
“It was a white male in a wooded area where people who live there are homeless and on drugs,” Warren County Coroner Doug L. Huskey told the Mississippi Free Press. “He is homeless. I talked to his family.”
Huskey said that he couldn’t speculate about the cause of death, including whether foul play was involved or if Zukatis died by suicide.
“We don’t ever say suicide or anything until the autopsy is over with. Right now, it’s just an investigation,” Huskey said.
Police have since launched an investigation into the incident. They say that Zukatis’ death isn’t related to Demartravion “Trey” Reed’s death at Delta State University.
The 21-year-old student was found hanging from a tree on Monday shortly after 7 a.m. in Cleveland, Mississippi. According to Delta State University police chief Michael L. Peeler, Reed was “hanging from a tree on central campus near the DSU pickleball courts.”
Police believe Reed died by suicide and said they found no evidence of foul play. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cleveland Police Department are working together on the investigation.
Delta State University didn’t go on lockdown following the incident because there was “no evidence of a threat to campus” and “no evidence the campus is unsafe at this point.” However, DSU canceled classes and events celebrating the university’s centennial on Monday.
