Investigation of Body Found in Tesla Registered to D4vd: …

Human remains were found in a towed Tesla registered to D4vd earlier this month, prompting a death investigation led by the Los Angeles Police Department.
In the days since, new details have emerged about the condition of the body and the identity of the deceased. D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, has continued his tour in support of Withered, his most recent album. In fact, he’s been on the road since early August, with the North American leg of the tour currently slated to conclude in Los Angeles on Sept. 20. It’s not currently clear, however, whether the tour will continue.
Below, we break down what’s known about the investigation so far. As previously reported, D4vd is “fully cooperating” with the authorities, and no suspects have been publicly named as of this writing.
“On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard,” an LAPD rep previously told Complex. “Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation.”
While police didn’t mention D4vd at the time, reports revealed the vehicle was registered to the Withered artist.
In an initial statement detailing what was then known about the body, which multiple reports have claimed was dismembered, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s officer revealed that a tattoo reading “Shhh” had been observed on the right index finger.
“The decedent was found severely decomposed inside a vehicle on 9/8/2025,” the medical examiner’s statement reads. “She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found. We are unable to determine her age or race/ethnicity. The decedent was wearing a tube top and black leggings (size small). She has wavy black hair. Jewelry includes yellow metal stud earring and w yellow metal chain bracelet.”
Days later, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed Celeste Rivas, 15, with a date of death of Sept. 8. Per reports, including this one from TMZ, Rivas had been missing since last year. The publication also quoted the teen’s mother as saying that her daughter had a boyfriend named David.
Not long after it was revealed that a tattoo reading “Shhh” had been found on the body, it was reported by TMZ that D4vd has a similar tattoo. Like the one found on the deceased, his too is reportedly on his right index finger.
What has D4vd said about the investigation?
As of this writing, nothing. A recent statement attributed to a rep, as seen in this KNBC report, said the singer had “been informed” of the investigation.
“And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities,” the rep added.
