Steve Harvey Says He Regrets Responding to Katt Williams’…

Steve Harvey regrets responding to Katt Williams‘ criticism about him on Club Shay Shay last year.
On the Shannon Sharpe hosted-podcast, Williams accused multiple comedians of being unfunny and stealing comedic material, including Harvey, who he called “Mr. Potato Head.” In the interview, Williams alleged that Harvey stole the premise of his 1990s sitcom from Mark Curry, who starred in Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, couldn’t be a movie star, and “hated on” late comedian and actor Bernie Mac.
Harvey would publicly react to Williams’ comments at Invest Fest later that year, calling the comedian “petty” and a “punk-ass” during the Earn Your Leisure panel.
“I just don’t have the quickness I had, but I can still turn my hip and shift that weight, and I’d knock yo’ short ass out,” he said during the event. “I’d shoot yo’ perm straight out yo’ head.”
Harvey admitted that the remarks were about Williams during his time on The Pivot Podcast during the show’s Tuesday (September 16) episode.
Around the 42-minute mark, Harvey said that he was “just joking” at Invest Fest and shared what he’d say to Williams if given the opportunity.
“If I had a chance to talk to Katt about anything, I would just ask him what’s wrong,” he said. “Let’s go to that. Listen to me, man. Just because a person sits on the show and don’t hesitate or say ‘um’ or ‘ah’ and speaks eloquently, that don’t mean it’s true.”
Harvey added that he “probably shouldn’t have said anything” and that his comments were a “regret.”
“I really shouldn’t have said nothing, ’cause we not in the same league, dog,” Harvey added. “We shooting at two different baskets. I shouldn’t even have said nothing. And so really, man, I think I would apologize to him if he took offense to what I said. I was joking, but I would apologize to him.”
Harvey said that viewers should “look at the whole tone of the interview,” and that it wasn’t rooted in “hate and jealousy.”
“And hate and jealousy is a form of grief. You’re grieving because obviously all
them people you talking about have something you either want or are something that you ain’t and you’re grieving and the funeral becomes the podcast,” Harvey said.
Harvey got into his history with Williams during a July episode of The George Janko Show, where the latter allegedly said that he would “destroy” Harvey after a misunderstanding over a performance.
