Karl-Anthony Towns Reacts to Max B Appearing to Confirm P…

Karl-Anthony Towns celebrated the news that Max B is reportedly returning home from prison.

On Tuesday (September 16), news surfaced that the Harlem rapper will be released from prison on November 9 after serving nearly twenty years. In 2009, Max B, real name Charly Wingate, was sentenced to 75 years after being convicted of felony murder and armed robbery in the 2006 Fort Lee robbery. The co-defendant, Max’s stepbrother Kelvin Leerdam, was sentenced to life plus 35 years.

In a repost of the news, Towns posted a gif of Max B, which showed the rapper in front of an ocean wave, a reference to his nickname, ‘The Wave.’ Towns has shown his support for the Dipset rapper before by wearing a Max B Supreme t-shirt during a playoff game last year.

Also on Tuesday, an Instagram account for Max B posted that “The wave touches down November 9,” seemingly confirming the news. The post showed a letter from the New Jersey State Parole Board writing that the rapper was granted parole, which includes a five-year mandatory supervision period.

In July, Max B called into Drink Champs to make amends with fellow Dipset member Jim Jones nearly two decades after leaving his ByrdGang label.

“At the end of the day, we all grow,” said Max. “We overcome, man. We all got responsibilities. It’s time to elevate. Time to build. You know what I’m saying? It’s time to get ready to pass this shit down to the young man, the young man’s world.”
