There’s one massive trend running through the reviews for One Battle After Another — near-universal praise for Leonardo DiCaprio.
The 50-year-old actor, who stars in director Paul Thomas Anderson’s $150 million action-thriller, is drawing widespread acclaim for his performance.
Loosely based on the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, the film stars DiCaprio alongside other Hollywood heavy hitters Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor.
DiCaprio plays Bob, a former revolutionary living off-grid in a hectic state of paranoia and fear. Those fears are well-founded, however, when his daughter Willa goes missing. This prompts Bob to mount the increasingly desperate rescue mission.

On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 97% of 70 critics’ reviews are positive. In other words, it has a 97% rating. This puts it just above DiCaprio’s previous film, Killers of the Flower Moon, which has 93%.
