LeBron Says He and Drake in ‘Different Places’ for Now: ‘…

LeBron James says there’s “always love” between him and Drake, despite widespread speculation about recent tensions.

In a new interview for Complex’s 360 with host Speedy Morman, the Lakers star touched on a number of topics, including how new school rappers sometimes “lose” him with their music.

“Take me back to the 90s, early 2000s, I could rap a whole song of an artist, for sure, front to back,” LeBron said. “No question about it. These new rappers, sometimes they lose me for a little bit. They bring me back, but they lose me for a little bit.”

This led to a question about Drake, who earlier this year tweaked a LeBron-referencing “Nonstop” lyric during a live performance, changing “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” to “How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man.”

Asked if he has “love” for the 6 god, LeBron affirmed that he does.

“Always, always,” he said. “Always wish him the best. Obviously, um, different places right now, currently. He’s doing his thing, I’m doing mine. But it’s always love, for sure.”

As previously reported, the tension speculation stems from LeBron’s appearance at Kendrick Lamar‘s Pop Out event in June of last year. At the time, Kendrick was fresh off his and Drake’s 2024-dominating feud.

The Drakeiverse will soon further expand to include Iceman, his first new solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs. A release date, at least for now, remains a mystery.

ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
