Jaden Smith Joins Christian Louboutin as Men’s Creative D…

Jaden Smith is stepping into a new role as Christian Louboutin’s first-ever men’s creative director.
The 27-year-old rapper, actor, and MSFTSrep cofounder will take the reins of Louboutin’s men’s collections and oversee the creation of four collections a year across shoes, leather goods, accessories, and creative campaigns. His first capsule will drop in January, with a full debut during men’s fashion week in Paris.
“This is the one of the biggest honors of my life, and I feel a lot of pressure to be able to live up to everything that Christian has done for the house, and also stepping into such a serious role,” Smith told WWD. “When he reached out to me, I was just blown away, because of how similar we are and how much we like to do things in a similar manner.
“I can’t wait to show the world what we’ve been working on,” he added. “I think that the universe of Christian Louboutin men’s has so much potential.”
Smith, 27, also told WWD that he and Louboutin, 62, “both have our own unique style of dressing that is very particular to us.”
“We have a very similar workflow where we go into the office, and then maybe, if there’s a dinner party or something, we go there, and we continue the same conversation that we were having in the office with the same people, and we are just constantly in this bubble of creativity,” he added.
Smith, who will relocate to Paris for the role, says he envisions a design philosophy that spans generations.
“We want to create shoes for the multiverse of men: the grandfather, the father, the oldest son, the youngest son,” he told the New York TImes when asked about his vision for his debut collection. “The patriarch comes from a different time — we need shoes for that man. The father is in more modern times — we need shoes for him, too. Then you have the oldest son who wants to be in line with the father and grandfather but has a very different life. And then you have the youngest son, rebelling, doing his own thing. That’s me and my generation. We’re designing for all of them. That’s the story that’s slowly unfolding.”
“He has the same enthusiasm that I have,” Louboutin said, “We have very different backgrounds, but we have a very similar mentality. “He has a way of seeing things, of digesting things, of transforming that really connects with my way of functioning.”
