Gayle King Has A ‘Girl Crush’ On Cardi B After Pregnancy …
Gayle King says that she has a “girl crush” on Cardi B following their headline-making TV sitdown.
TMZ spoke with King in New York City about her recent interview with Cardi, in which the latter revealed the existence of the baby in her womb.
“She’s in a really good headspace and I’m happy for her,” said King. “I walked away with a girl crush on Cardi B.”
King continued on, praising Cardi and her decisions.
“I think if you underestimate her, you do it at your own peril,” said King. “She knows exactly what she’s doing.”
“She’s very excited about the baby, and she says so is Stefon,” King continued. “She is ready for the new album, new music, and she wants us all to play — and I’m here for her. She’s a doll.”
Cardi revealed her pregnancy on Sept. 17 during an interview with King on CBS Mornings. During the interview, she explained why she chose to wait to tell the world about it.
“I just was like, can I just say it on my own time?” Cardi said. “I’m not hiding. On my own terms. Let me close some deals first. You don’t really wanna say right away that you’re pregnant. Let me see a couple more sonograms, let my baby be healthy.”
Cardi then revealed that she hadn’t even told her parents about the pregnancy by the time that the interview was filmed.
“I have to tell them this week before this interview comes out,” she said.
The rapper also spoke about her relationship with Stefon Diggs, who she said makes her feel “safe” and “confident.”
“Everybody kept telling us to have fun, and we had a little bit of too much fun, and now I’m here,” Cardi later joked. “We had too much fun. We’re very excited. We’re very happy.”
Cardi’s second studio album Am I the Drama? came out on Sept. 19. A few months ahead of its release, Cardi shared a teaser video about the LP that gave some details about its content.
“Seven years of love, life, and loss. Seven years I gave them grace, but now I give them hell,” Cardi said. “I learned power is not given, it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers and no more tears. I’m not back, I’m beyond. I’m not your villain, I’m your karma. The time is here, the time is now.”
