Adin Ross Tries to Quash Megan Thee Stallion’s Mariachi B…

Adin Ross’ story from earlier this month about how he was served a subpoena by a mariachi band sent by Megan Thee Stallion‘s legal team turned out to be true; and the streamer has tried, unsuccessfully (for now), to have the demand quashed.

On Tuesday (Sept. 16), the same day he was scheduled to be deposed in the case, Ross filed a motion to quash the subpoena, which was issued as part of Megan’s defamation case against blogger Milagro Gramz. In the paperwork, he recounted what happened: on August 28, Megan’s representatives sent a mariachi band to perform in the front yard of his Florida home in an attempt to lure him outside so he could be served. The subpoena had two purposes: it was a demand for him to sit for a deposition, and to provide documents related to the case.

Ross’ argument was multifaceted. Primarily, he said that because it was actually a security guard, and not the streamer himself, who received the subpoena, it was improperly served.

In addition, he claimed that the subpoena was overly broad, and amounted to a “fishing expedition.”

“The Complaint in this action makes no mention of Mr. Ross whatsoever,” Ross’ motion reads. “A review of the pleadings reveals that the dispute between Ms. Pete [Megan] and [Gramz] does not involve any facts, circumstances, or legal theories that would implicate Mr. Ross or suggest he possesses relevant information.”

Ross’ argument was all for naught, though. The judge in the case, Lisette Reid, struck down Ross’ motion for procedural reasons. She explained that before the streamer could ask the judge directly to kill the subpoena, he had to “confer, or attempt to confer” with Megan’s side directly. If that fails, then Ross has to contact the judge directly to request a hearing.

Complex has reached out to Ross’ two attorneys (one of which is your favorite rapper’s favorite lawyer Bradford Cohen) to see if they’ll continue to pursue quashing the subpoena. Neither lawyer responded as of this writing.
