Hunter Nadeau Is the Sky Meadow Country Club Shooting Sus…

Hunter Nadeau was named by New Hampshire’s attorney general as the suspect accused of the mass shooting at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire.

The shooting left a 59-year-old man named Robert Steven DeCesare dead and two other people injured, according to Attorney General John M. Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke, in a joint statement.

The officials announced in the release “that an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting incident at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua on September 20, 2025.”

Their release does not specify a motive. However, Patch.com reported that a witness said the shooter yelled “Free Palestine” before opening fire on people inside the country club, where people were gathered for a wedding reception and also dining at Prime Restaurant. Authorities have not confirmed that detail.

“He said, ‘The children are safe.’ And, ‘Free Palestine,'” witness Tom Bartelson told WCVB-TV.

Another witness, Michael Homewood told WCVB-TV that the gunman walked through the dance floor to the kitchen.

“He walked through the kitchen and went up to other guests and flipped them off and said various things and walked right out the back door of the kitchen,” Homewood said to the station.

A wedding reception was occurring in the room next to the shooting, according to CNN.

Hunter Nadeau, 23, “shot and killed Robert Steven DeCesare (age 59) with a handgun. There is no known connection between Hunter Nadeau and Mr. DeCesare,” the AG’s release says.

“In the same incident in which Hunter Nadeau shot and killed Mr. DeCesare, Hunter Nadeau shot and wounded two other adults,” the AG wrote.

Hunter Nadeau “has been charged with one count of second-degree murder for knowingly shooting Mr. DeCesare. Additional charges likely will be brought, including for the additional shooting victims,” the release says.

“It is anticipated that Hunter Nadeau will be arraigned at the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua on Monday, September 22. The charges and allegations against Hunter Nadeau are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” the release notes.

“Video surveillance has confirmed there was only one shooter and they are currently being detained. The scene is still an active investigation but there is no further danger to the public,” Nashua police wrote on X.

Evie O’Rourke told WCVB-TV that her son Robert DeCesares was a hero.

“He kicked the door open, and Rob just went right for him and protected his family,” O’Rourke said. “We don’t know any information more about it other than they have arrested him, but boy, is he going to be missed. He’s just a great guy.”
