Diddy’s Lawyers Argue He Should Receive No More Than 14-M…

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team argued that their client should be released on time served when he’s sentenced next month.

According to legal documents reviewed by Complex on Monday, Diddy’s attorneys requested that the 55-year-old, who has already served over a year in jail, be allowed to return home to his family, calling it a “fair sentence” since he “made the most of that punishment.” The lawyers made the new request in a written submission to Judge Arun Subramanian.

“In the past two years, Mr. Combs’s career and reputation have been destroyed. He has served over a year in one of the most notorious jails in America—yet has made the most of that punishment,” his lawyers wrote to the court. “It is time for Mr. Combs to go home to his family, so he can continue his treatment and try to make the most of the next chapter of his extraordinary life…It is the only just and fair sentence that could be imposed.”

In the sentencing memo Diddy’s lawyers sent out Monday night, they argue he should serve no more than 14 months—time he’s already completed—because his case is rare, involves consensual relationships, and past Mann Act cases with similar facts have never resulted in harsher sentences.

His legal team also argues that

The Body Boy Records founder could have faced a life sentence but was only found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution, while being acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Diddy is scheduled for sentencing on October 3, following his July conviction on two Mann Act charges, and still faces up to 10 years in prison.
