Former FBI Director James Comey is married to his longtime wife Patrice Failor.

The pair met at the College of William and Mary, although their memories of their first meeting differ.

According to CNN, the Comeys have been married since 1987.

They have six children together. Their kids include their son Collin, who died as an infant. The other children are Abby, Claire, Brien, Kate and Maurene, CNN reported. According to CNN, Comey and his wife have also served as foster parents.

James Comey was under federal indictment on September 25, ABC News reported. Comey “has been indicted on charges of making a false statement and obstruction related to his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2020,” according to ABC News.

Comey opened up about his wife and college years in an interview with Flat Hat News.

“The best part was meeting and falling in love with my wife… I grew a lot as a person …” he said. “I was a bit of a jerk when I met her. I joke that we changed each other. She made me a nicer person; I made her a meaner person.”

According to that site, Comey told Flat Hat News that he met Patrice when she “nominated him to run for the presidency of the Bryan Complex dorm council.”

However, she had a different take.

“She remembers meeting me as a freshman at a daiquiri party in the previously mentioned Lord of the Flies-esque Tyler Annex,” Comey said. “I don’t recall meeting her there,” he told the publication.

According to Biography.com, their son Collin “died from strep infection at 9 days old in 1995.”
