Alyson Stoner’s Viral TikTok About Missy Elliott Takes Fa…

Who can forget Missy Elliott’s 2002 “Work It” video—the one that swept the VMAs, dominated MTV, and introduced a nine-year-old Alyson Stoner as the pint-sized dancer in the oversized beanie. Stoner would go on to appear in two more Missy videos, “Gossip Folks” and “I’m Really Hot,” cementing them as a staple of early-2000s music video culture.

Now, more than two decades later, Stoner is finally answering what they call the hard-hitting questions I’m asked every week.

On Friday, August 8, the 31-year-old Cheaper by the Dozen star posted a TikTok using the popular Q&A trend where creators lip-sync or reenact the repetitive questions they get from strangers. Stoner’s version opened with, “Do you still talk to Missy Elliott?” to which they deadpanned: “Oh, I was 9. That was 23 years ago.”

When the imaginary interviewer pushed back—“Yeah, so can’t you just call her up?”—Stoner kept a straight face: “I was 9. We never hung out. It would’ve been inappropriate.” After one more “So you weren’t friends?” she replied: “I was 9. A literal child.”

Then came the kicker—“Could you ask her to perform at my wedding?”—followed by on-screen text that read: “What the hell…”

It didn’t take long for the comments to light up.

“It sounds like Missy had healthy, appropriate boundaries when she was working with kids, unlike way too many adults in Hollywood,” one person wrote.

“That makes me like her more. I don’t want any adults, celebs or not, friends with kids,” another added.

“They’re confusing Missy Elliott with Drake He’s the one who likes ‘A-Minor’ ,” a third commenter joked—referencing a line from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us aimed at Drake.

“And even if you were an adult, why do they expect you to talk to someone you worked with briefly 23 years ago? How many people do they talk to that they worked on a project 23 years ago still?” someone else asked.

“So… you’re saying Missy E will NOT perform at my wedding???? Fine,” another quipped.

This isn’t the first time Stoner has spoken about her history with Elliott. They’re credited the 54-year-old rapper for creating a safe, professional environment on set and even reunited with her for a surprise cameo at the 2019 VMAs during “Work It.”

But as they’re latest TikTok makes clear, the real connection fans seem to imagine never existed—and they’re more than happy to set the record straight.
