‘Black Panther’ Star Letitia Wright Remembers Chadwick Bo…



It’s been nearly five years since Chadwick Boseman died—a loss his fellow Black Panther star struggles with every year around its anniversary.

Letitia Wright shared a series of photos of Boseman during his college years at Howard University on her Instagram stories on August 25. She also included an image of a sunset with the words, “this week. every year since 2020. is a tough one.” She added, “But always a time of reflection, taking time to appreciate the soul of my brother.”

Wright plays Shuri in the Black Panther movies. Shuri was the little sister of Boseman’s T’Challa in the franchise.

Boseman died August 28, 2020 after a very private battle with colon cancer. The announcement of his death shocked the world and many of those who worked with him who had no idea of his health struggles.

A family statement sharing the news of his shocking death said, “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.⁣ Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.”

The statement continued, “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.” ⁣

Boseman died at home with his wife and his family by his side.

Boseman’s death was woven into King T’Challa’s storyline and served as a catalyst in the movie Wakanda Forever. In the movie, T’Challa dies from an undisclosed illness—the death sets the pace for the rest of the film.

Boseman was 43 years old at the time of his death.
