Cardi B Talks Offset Marriage Issues: ‘I Couldn’t Take It…

Cardi B has likened the divorce proceedings following her split from Offset to a hostage situation.
In a recent X Spaces session, Cardi, who last week released her long-awaited Invasion of Privacy follow-up, responded to unwarranted commentary about her personal life from the general public and one podcaster in particular while underscoring the difficulties she says she’s faced while trying to finalize her divorce from Offset. This month, Cardi announced during an interview with Gayle King that she was currently expecting a child with boyfriend Stefon Diggs.
“I have three kids with one man that I got married with,” Cardi said. “Yes, I’m having a baby with somebody else. So what? That happens. It’s life. Let me tell you something, I did things the correct way the first time. I fell in love. … I lasted seven years. Seven years that I didn’t have to last with somebody. I lasted seven years in a marriage. Stop saying, ‘Oh, but you’re still married.’ No, I’m legally separated.”
Cardi continued, “The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes. Y’all wanna know the tea? The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties. I’mma fight for that. This is not no love shit. I’m not gonna stop living my life.”
Later, Cardi said she’s being held “hostage” amid a push for her to give over “millions of dollars” in the divorce. She also stated that the lives of her and Offset’s children haven’t changed since the split, as well as elaborated on the issues she said led to the couple parting ways.
“It’s more than just cheating,” she said. “That’s the thing that y’all don’t understand. Y’all don’t know half of the shit. Y’all don’t know most of the shit. It’s more than just cheating. It was a lot. I couldn’t take it no more. I had to go to a fucking hospital because I couldn’t take it no more.”
Cardi didn’t specify when this hospitalization occurred.
At another point in the X Spaces session, Cardi seemingly suggested that her management team and label had intervened out of concern.
“When it’s affecting your work and you can’t even record, it’s time to go,” she said. “And I left. Goddamn.”
Moving forward, Cardi let fans know she’s “so happy” and “motivated” after announcing she’s expecting a child with Stefon. She also vowed to not let negative comments and related speculation from the general public “take that thrill” from her.
“I’m okay,” she said. “I promised my fans I’m gonna give them the greatest tour and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do while I’m being the greatest fucking motherfucking mother.”
Cardi’s Little Miss Drama arena run is set to kick off at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert next February. For a full list of dates and ticket info, see here.
