Drew Brees Calls Eagles ‘Boring’ and Leaves Jalen Hurts O…

Drew Brees isn’t holding back when it comes to his thoughts on Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The former New Orleans Saints quarterback made his ESPN First Take debut this week and quickly stirred conversation by calling Philly’s offense “the most boring” in the league.
“I respect Philly, they are winning games. They’re finding ways to win games,” Brees said during his debut segment on Monday, September 22. “[But] I can’t stand to watch that offense. It’s the most boring offense. It is. I’m sorry.”
Brees’s comments came after Stephen A. Smith pointed out that Hurts wasn’t included in the list of quarterbacks Brees considered most impressive through three weeks of the season.
Instead, per CBS Sports, Brees highlighted names like Green Bay’s Jordan Love, Dallas’ Dak Prescott, and Buffalo’s Josh Allen.
The Eagles, however, are far from struggling. Sitting at 3-0 after a 33-26 comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia ranks eighth in the NFL in scoring.
They also lead the league in red zone efficiency and sit eighth in third down conversion rate. A large part of that success stems from their signature “Tush Push” play, which has been nearly unstoppable near the goal line—even if it is controversial among fans and analysts.
Hurts has quietly put up efficient numbers as well. The 25-year-old quarterback is completing 71.4 percent of his passes for 479 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions through three games. On top of that, he leads the league with four rushing touchdowns, bringing his total to seven.
Still, Brees remains unconvinced. By leaving Hurts off his list of standout QBs, he signaled that consistency and efficiency don’t necessarily equate to star power in his eyes.
This isn’t the first time Brees has made headlines for his blunt takes since retiring from the gridiron in 2021.
Last month on The Dan Patrick Show, he claimed he would already rank among the top three NFL analysts if he had a full-time job in the booth. “I’d step in the booth right now and be a top-three guy, without question,” Brees said. “And then give me a few years, and I could be the best.”
For now, the Eagles continue to stack wins, while Brees settles into his new media role.
Philadelphia will look to stay undefeated when it heads to Tampa Bay to face the 3-0 Buccaneers next week.
