Former ‘James Bond’ Star Says He’d Return to the Franchis…

A former James Bond star says he would happily return to the film franchise, but only on one condition.

Pierce Brosnan told Radio Times joked he could return to the 007 franchise as a “senior citizen” in the new film being directed by filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.

“My wife Keely [Shaye Smith] and I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who’s going to be the next James Bond,” Brosnan revealed. “There are many great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a spectacle of delight.” However, he believes that no one wants to watch a “craggy, 72-year-old Bond.

“If Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I would look at it in a heartbeat,” he added. “Why not? It’s great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics… who knows?”

He concluded, “I’m so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character.”

Brosnan starred in four Bond films: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).

The last actor to play 007 was Daniel Craig, who embodied the iconic spy in five films, including Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).

Other iconic actors who have put their own spin on the iconic film hero include Sean Connery. He starred in Dr. No (1962) through You Only Live Twice (1967), returned for Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and later starred in Never Say Never Again (1983, unofficial).

George Lazenby played 007 in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969). Roger Moore embodied the suave detective in the films Live and Let Die (1973) through A View to a Kill (1985), followed by Timothy Dalton, who starred in the films The Living Daylights (1987) and Licence to Kill (1989).
