Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander Announces Wife Is Pregnant…
Shaun Alexander hasn’t carried the ball in an NFL game since 2008, but the former Seattle Seahawks star just announced he’s still breaking records—this time off the field.
The 2005 NFL MVP revealed on Up & Adams that he and his wife, Valerie, are expecting their 14th child.
“We’re just now starting to tell people,” Alexander told host Kay Adams. “But No. 14 is in the belly.”
For perspective, Philip Rivers—long known as the league’s poster child for big families—tapped out at 10 kids. Alexander has blown right past that total, matching Antonio Cromartie at 14.
The Alexanders’ roster of children already includes Heaven, Trinity, Eden, Joseph, Justus, Temple, Honor, Jedidiah, Eternity, Hosanna, Hope, and Judea. Their daughter Torah, who passed away in 2017, just 70 days after birth, also remains part of their story.
These days, Alexander spends less time juking defenders and more time investing in education and faith-based programs.
According to The New York Post, he helps lead the Harvest Covenant, a homeschooling initiative that includes a football team he coaches. It’s a natural extension of the sport that defined his career, though with 14 kids at home, he could probably run a private league of his own without much effort.
Alexander hasn’t lost sight of football legacy, though. While chatting with Adams, he admitted he still has his eye on Canton: “You know, I want my kids to see the Hall of Fame. Am I asking too much?”
On the field, his résumé makes a strong case. Across nine NFL seasons, Alexander piled up 9,453 rushing yards, 100 rushing touchdowns, and five straight 1,100-yard seasons.
His 2005 campaign remains one of the best by any back in league history—1,880 yards and 27 touchdowns that earned him MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and All-Pro honors. He ranks 18th all-time with 112 total touchdowns.
