Insomniac Unveils Ultra-Violent ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ Game…

Almost four years after it was announced, Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have finally unleashed the first gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, and it’s just as violent as fans of the character should expect.
Insomniac Games, the developers behind the Marvel’s Spider-Man series and Ratchet & Clank, have turned up the violence significantly for its next PlayStation 5 game. The trailer showcases a mix of gameplay and in-game cinematics from the highly anticipated game, with the titular character gleefully ripping through enemies. Limbs are chopped off, faces are stabbed, and blood spews from anyone dumb enough to take on the character, perhaps best known for his appearances as part of the X-Men.
To coincide with the arrival of the gameplay trailer, Sony and Insomniac also debuted a behind-the-scenes video explaining more about what’s gone into the game. They break down the origins of their take on the character, their commitment to keeping the character as violent as he is in the comic books, and share a hint of the locations gamers can expect to see in the game. They also revealed that Liam McIntyre will portray the character in the game, which is set in the same universe as Insomniac’s Spider-Man games.
While there’s no firm date for the game yet, Insomniac shared that it will release in Fall 2026. The video game developer has already proved to be incredibly prolific on the PlayStation 5, releasing a total of three games for the platform alongside a remastered edition of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The trailer was unveiled as part of the latest PlayStation State of Play stream, which also included the gameplay debut of Saros, developer Housemarque’s action-packed follow-up to the 2021 critical hit Returnal.
