Jordan MVP 92 Black Infrared HQ3950-003 Release Date
Following the success of the Air Jordan 4 RM, Jordan Brand launched the MVP 92 this year as a retooled version of the Air Jordan 7. It’s a low-cut sneaker maintaining the familiar design cues of its source material, and soon it will take on a look from Michael Jordan‘s first championship sneaker.
The Jordan MVP 92 “Black/Infrared” takes after the Air Jordan 6 colorway of the same name, which Jordan wore while winning the 1991 NBA Finals. Black dominates the majority of the sneaker, with red saved for the mountain-like panels of the midsole and branding consisting of a tongue “Flight” logo, small Jumpman on the lateral heel and the “Nike Air” mark on the heel.
The “Black Infrared” 6 holds a special place in the heart of sneakerheads because it’s what Jordan wore while finally getting over the hump and defeating the Los Angeles Lakers to secure the first of his six NBA titles. Next year, Jordan Brand is bringing the sneaker back with a subtle twist, as the “Reverse Infrared” colorway makes greater use of red on the midsole.
While not true to the original, “Reverse Infrared” is rooted in the past through what’s believed to be a salesman’s sample. That version was never released to the public, but did end up as far as an appearance in an Eastbay catalogue.
With 2026 serving as the Air Jordan 6’s 25th anniversary, the year will also bring the return of the “White/Infrared” edition with “Nike Air” marks returning for the first time on a retro.
The Jordan MVP 92 “Black/Infrared” is expected to release in the spring through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $145.
