Kristen Bell Accused of Making Light of Domestic Violence…
Kristen Bell raised eyebrows for an anniversary post dedicated to her husband of twelve years, actor Dax Shepard.
While the Nobody Wants This star might have been joking around, her Instagram followers believed it was making light of domestic violence.
On Saturday (October 18), the actress posted a picture of herself and Shepard in an embrace.
She wrote: “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.'”
In Bell’s comments section, the post didn’t seem sit well with many of her followers.
“Domestic violence isn’t a joke,” wrote one person, as the account for true crime series Dateline NBC also commented, “Screenshotted.”
Shepard, who shares two daughters with Bell, has not made an anniversary-dedicated Instagram post as of this writing.
While attending the recent season two premiere of Nobody Wants This, Bell seemed to have forgotten her anniversary date during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“I’m so glad you told me,” Bell jokingly told Cassie DiLaura, adding that the reporter threw her a “curveball.”
“It helps that he doesn’t remember either,” Bell added. And no one’s at fault here, right? We’re just not great with dates.”
During a September episode of Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert, around the 1:26:00 mark of the video below, the actor said that he and Bell don’t have the “perfect” marriage but considers it to be “enormously successful.”
