Meryl Streep’s Miranda Walks in Valentino
Miranda Priestly is back — and she’s still walking like she is on the top of her game through the offices of “Runway.”
Anne Hathaway celebrated her 43rd birthday by sharing the first teaser for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” confirming Meryl Streep’s return as the imperious Runway editor is going to be full of some holy grail shoe moments. “It’s everyone’s birthday #43 #DWP2,” Hathaway wrote alongside the clip, which quickly started racking up close to 90,000 views within an hour of release.
The minute-long teaser opens with a close-up that could silence an office: a pair of Valentino Rockstud stiletto pumps in lacquered red leather, punctuated by gold pyramid studs. As Madonna’s “Vogue” swells, the camera follows Priestley’s heels cutting through the “Runway” offices — intercut with flashes of gowns, flashbulbs and Champagne corks — before she reaches an elevator. A hand stops the doors. It’s Andy Sachs. “Miranda,” she says. Streep, behind her sunglasses, replies, “Took you long enough.”
The red stilettos trace back to Valentino’s 2010 Rockstud debut, created by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The design lifted its sharp metal detailing from the bugnato stonework carved into Roman palazzos — a mix of classical architecture and street attitude that defined the label’s next decade. The Rockstud quickly turned into a global hit, driving Valentino’s sales through the 2010s and becoming one of the brand’s most recognizable signatures.

For Patricia Field, returning as costume designer, the choice fits Priestly’s legacy: refined, commanding and never without a statement heel. Streep was previously spotted on set in New York filming at the American Museum of Natural History in a pair of crimson satin platforms — another bold red shoe moment that set the tone for the sequel’s palette.

If the teaser’s final shot is any indication, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will bring both a generational face-off and a footwear showcase worthy of its title. The Rockstud’s return folds the sequel neatly into fashion’s own timeline — proof that what works in design rarely stays gone for long.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is set for release on May 1, 2026.
