Metro Boomin Calls Rape Accusation ‘Insulting’ During Tri…

Day two of the Metro Boomin rape trial in Los Angeles continued with a testimony from the producer on Wednesday, September 23. The proceedings began just before 9 a.m. in front of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge R. Gary Klausner, who tried to keep the courtroom assuaged when examinations became intense. Complex was present for the trial and, below, we provide a breakdown of what happened.

What is Metro Boomin accused of?

Metro, born Leland Tyler Wayne, is accused of rape and sexual battery stemming from an alleged encounter with author and motivational speaker Vanessa LeMaistre. The plaintiff claims that she met Metro in July 2016, just months after the death of her nine-month-old son, Kamden, who died after being diagnosed with Zellweger syndrome and being given three months to live.

LeMaistre claims that she and Metro bonded in a Los Angeles recording studio over their shared depression and alleges that the producer gave her half a Xanax and a shot of alcohol to cope. LeMaistre alleges that after blacking out from the concoction, she woke up to Metro raping and performing oral sex on her in a hotel room.

LeMaistre maintains that she was impregnated from the encounter and sought an abortion, and believes that she was mocked in 21 Savage‘s verse on the Metro-produced “Rap Saved Me.” On day two of the trial, the plaintiff claims that the song’s music video alludes to sexual assault, although an official visual does not exist.

Who took the stand on the second day of the trial?

LeMaistre continued her testimony on Wednesday, during a direct examination with her lawyer, Michael J. Willemin, and cross-examination with Metro’s defense lawyer. The plaintiff claimed that her memory of being escorted out of the hotel where she was allegedly raped was “foggy” and alleged that, without saying goodbye, Metro pointed at a black SUV for her to depart back to the recording studio where her vehicle was parked. LeMaistre was also questioned about infrequent text exchanges that she had with Metro in the months after the alleged sexual assault, along with journal entries about the artist.

Also testifying was UCLA psychology professor and expert witness April D. Thames, who conducted four assessments on the plaintiff in May 2025. Thames noted that LeMaistre was “friendly,” “cooperative,” and “forthcoming in her responses” during the tests but exhibited symptoms of bipolar disorder with psychotic features, PTSD and major depressive disorder (MDD).

Also in the afternoon, Metro took the stand, detailing his memories of being the oldest of five children, the tragic loss of his mother and “best friend,” Leslie Wayne, and claimed that he had consensual sex with the plaintiff twice.

Who was Metro Boomin’s mother?

Leslie Wayne supported Metro’s career as a producer throughout high school, frequently transporting him from St. Louis to Atlanta to work with rappers in the years before he became a notable artist. Wayne was killed by her husband, Metro’s stepfather, in a murder-suicide in 2022. In the years since, Metro has spoken publicly about the loss of his mother, and during the trial, he testified that he felt “second-in-command” to her in co-raising his four younger siblings. After his mother was slain, Metro adopted his two youngest siblings, Logan and Lauren, who would have been 7 and 11 at the time.

What did Metro say about his alleged encounters with LeMaistre?

Metro testified that at the time of meeting LeMaistre in 2016, the two “spoke briefly” and exchanged Instagram handles while he was DJing a residency in Las Vegas. Evidence showed that Metro sent LeMaistre a direct message on July 7 to meet up in Los Angeles when he next visited, to which the plaintiff replied on July 10. The producer recalled that he was “in and out” of LA for weeks at a time throughout the summer, but that he saw LeMaistre five to seven times, each time with her visiting a recording studio he was in.

Elsewhere, Metro denied LeMaistre’s accusation that she had seen him drink Codeine, but he witnessed her mix alcohol and Xanax “more than twice,” calling the sight “quite alarming.” The producer also claimed that the two had consensual sex twice at a hotel in West Hollywood and that it was “mutually agreed upon” and maintained that he’d wear a condom both times.

Metro also alleged that LeMaistre was not blackout drunk as previously claimed, but was “conscious” during their sexual encounter. The producer also denied that LeMaistre informed him of her pregnancy, as he allegedly found out in the 2024 lawsuit filing. During cross-examination, Metro said that those who commit sexual assault should be “tortured and killed.”

“For someone to come out the blue who I haven’t seen in a decade, it’s beyond insulting,” Metro said on the stand.

Why has Lil Wayne been mentioned in the trial?

Lil Wayne has been referenced several times in court this week, as LeMaistre said she dated the five-time Grammy winner for ten months. The plaintiff claimed that she never pursued a lawsuit against the rapper, but believed that his 2011 single “How to Love” was about her. In a cross examination, Judge Klauser shut down the defense’s attempt to share a article by Independent Online about LeMaistre’s alleged relationship with Lil Wayne, deeming it irrelevant.

During Metro’s testimony, he stated that LeMaistre twice told him about the death of her son, Kamden, and claimed that Lil Wayne was the child’s father, which the plaintiff appeared to be taken aback by.

What other rapper did LeMaistre claim she dated?

In her testimony on the second day, LeMaistre spoke on referring to an ‘M’ in a July 2017 journal entry, writing that she wanted the person to “make an effort” to see her. The plaintiff alleged that she was unsure whether the ‘M’ meant Metro, and that she had also been seeing Mack 10 at the time, who showed her “subtle effort” in dating.

The trial resumes with arguments on Thursday, September 25 and is scheduled to conclude with a decision on Friday, September 26.
