Pete Davidson Thought His Tattoos ‘Sucked’ After Becoming…

It took sobering up for Pete Davidson to want to remove his showy tattoos.

The Pickup star, 31, spoke about his sobriety and tattoo removal process on the Wednesday (Aug. 13) episode of The Breakfast Club.

In 2023, Davidson entered rehab to alleviate his struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. He also had suffered from dependence on ketamine, cocaine, and other substances.

Around the 29-minute mark of the clip below, Davidson opened up about looking at his tattoos while in rehab, saying that they “sucked” and that he had gotten inked while he was in a “drug-fueled” haze.

“I got all my tattoos in a span of, like, two years and I was just looking at myself in the mirror once in rehab and I just for the first time when I was sober and I was just like, ‘Oh no.’ Like, ‘What did I do?'” he told podcast crew.

The SNL alum added that while he thinks tattoos are “cool” and “meaningful,” his “weren’t.”

“It people’s tattoos are meaningful and mine just weren’t. So, I started burning them off. Burning them off sucks,” he said about the removal process.

Davidson then broke down the lengthy laser tattoo removal process, which consisted of a “sheet” of his skin getting hit with a laser and trying to keep the area out of the sun.

“So it takes years and if you work, you can’t be on set with an open [wound], so like you got to schedule it in between,” Davidson continued. “So I’ll be removing them ’til I’m 40. But it sucks. If anybody is actually thinking about getting a tattoo, I would recommend thinking about it for a couple years, ’cause your feelings change.”

While Davidson kept a tattoo dedicated to fellow Staten Islanders, Wu-Tang Clan, he regretted getting one of a Game of Thrones direwolf. The comedian also said that he’d gotten a tattoo of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to “cheer her up,” and she called him to make sure he wouldn’t remove the piece.

Earlier this year, Davidson announced on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that his tattoos were “almost gone” and that he wanted a “clean slate.”
