Randy Moss Had Parts of Several Organs Removed During Can…

Randy Moss is opening up about his cancer battle in an emotional new interview.
The NFL legend sat down with Robin Roberts for a segment on Good Morning America September 4 to talk about his journey and the steps that were taken to save his life.
When Roberts asked what it was like to get that first diagnosis, Moss said, “I was nervous because of the doctor talking about that ‘c word’ it’s ‘me?’ You know and I just think that when you live your life a certain type of way of eating right, taking care of your health and all of a sudden you get diagnosed with cancer it’s kind of like I was overwhelmed, like hit with a ton of bricks.”
During the piece, Roberts went on to describe Moss’s treatment, saying he underwent a difficult six-hour procedure “that removed parts of several organs along with chemotherapy and radiation.” After rounds of treatment, Moss went into remission.
Moss also opened up about some of the dark times during his fight, saying at first he didn’t even want to leave his bedroom or be around anyone else. Moss said it was his wife who got him out of that place, encouraging him to get up and let his family love him.
It was in 2024 when Moss revealed he was diagnosed with bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), located between his pancreas and liver.
He took some time off as an NFL broadcaster during his treatment before making an emotional return to the desk during ESPN’s Super Bowl coverage in February 2025.
Moss also shared with Roberts that he was in regular conversation with Deion Sanders during his own battle with bladder cancer. Moss said he was able to help support Sanders based on his own experiences and the emotions that came with fighting cancer.
