Russell Wilson Booed During New York Giants’ Loss to KC C…

The honeymoon didn’t last long for Russell Wilson in New York.
During the Giants’ primetime home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, fans at MetLife made their feelings clear: boos for the new QB1, chants for the rookie, and a restless energy that only comes from a city that doesn’t tolerate excuses.
The Giants dropped to 0-3 after a 22-9 loss to Kansas City. The offense looked flat, managing just 281 yards. For Wilson, it was a major step back from his 450-yard, three-touchdown performance against Dallas the week before. Against the Chiefs, he went 18-for-32 with 160 yards and two interceptions, giving the crowd plenty of reasons to vent.
By halftime, “We want Dart!” chants echoed through the stadium, calling for first-year quarterback Jaxson Dart. He was used sparingly in a red-zone package, but every snap he took felt like a preview of what fans are already pushing for. When Wilson trotted back out afterward, the boos came quick.
Coach Brian Daboll didn’t sugarcoat it. “I’d be booing too,” he admitted postgame to ESPN. “That’s the nature of it. We’ve got to be better.”
Wilson, who’s no stranger to criticism in big markets, tried to frame the night as part of the grind. “You got to have thick skin,” he said. “Obviously, I’ve been able to show that throughout my career… we just needed one or two big plays. Unfortunately, they didn’t come our way.”
Dart isn’t trying to add to the noise, saying his focus is on listening, learning, and staying ready. But the dynamic is clear: the rookie’s presence looms large, especially with the team stuck at 0-3.
The defense felt the frustration too. Linebacker Brian Burns said, “It can flip on him week by week,” while defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence admitted, “I heard a lot of other stuff that I’m not a fan of. That doesn’t help, for real. But people are entitled to their opinions.”
