WNBA Phenom Angel Reese Makes Feature Film Debut in ‘A Ho…

Angel Reese is used to dominating on the court, but now she’s stepping into a whole new arena: the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Chicago Sky forward makes her feature film debut in A House of Dynamite, the latest thriller from Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow. The Netflix production bowed at the Venice Film Festival this week, where it received an extended standing ovation from the audience.

The movie features a heavyweight cast led by Idris Elba, who plays the President of the United States during a high-stakes nuclear crisis. Reese makes her appearance in the film’s final act, playing herself in a scene designed to spotlight the power of sports in moments of uncertainty.

The storyline takes Elba’s president from the White House to Liberty Arena, where Reese is waiting with a group of young athletes. What follows is a rare blend of fiction and reality—Elba’s character shares how basketball shaped his path, while Reese embodies the real-life role model she has become to a generation of fans.

Reese’s addition to the cast places her alongside an impressive lineup that includes Rebecca Ferguson, Anthony Ramos, Greta Lee, Jared Harris, and Tracy Letts. The film, penned by Noah Oppenheim, tracks the fallout after an anonymous missile launch puts the country on the brink of disaster. Bigelow structures the drama across three chapters, building to Reese’s cameo as a moment of hope before the tension explodes again.

While this marks her first feature film role, Reese has dabbled in entertainment before. She appeared in music videos for NLE Choppa’s “Champions” and Latto and Cardi B’s “Put It on Da Floor Again.”

Off the court, she’s also been a fixture in fashion, recently earning a Vogue cover and establishing herself as one of the most visible stars in women’s sports.
