Woman Arrested for Destroying Ex’s Car With Glitter and S…

A scorned ex-girlfriend allegedly demolished the vehicle of a Kentucky man after they got into an argument last month.

According to local news station WKYT, the woman, Stephanie Carlquist, is accused to have damaged her then-boyfriend’s car beyond repair, with an estimated cost of $12,000. A complaint claims that Carlquist poured salt into the vehicle’s engine, along with throwing glitter into the AC vent, slashing a tire, breaking the radio screen, and cracking both the vehicle’s windshield and rearview mirror.

The victim claims that Carlquist slashed the car’s tire in July but damaged its other parts immediately after their argument on July 15. Upon a towing company taking the car to a local Goodyear, the estimation of damages was calculated to be $12,464.96. The tow truck driver claims that Carlquist confessed to the incident, after which the mother of her now ex-boyfriend was contacted by the driver.

Carlquist is said to have messaged her ex-boyfriend on Instagram shortly thereafter to apologize for totaling his car and claiming that she was stressed due to her pregnancy. In her interview with police, the woman allegedly fessed up to damaging the air vents and windshield, but said that vandalizing the oil, motor and additional parts were “overdue.”

Despite her alleged confession, Carlquist appears to be all smiles in her mugshot. The woman has been charged with felony criminal mischief and is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a $12,000 bond.
